if you’ve never heard of brain quest, here’s some info! the company that i work for bought the publisher that owns brain quest, and when they joined our company, we brought them into our CMS.
alongside migrating the content, we also gave them a fresh website theme. i designed the first two drafts, then in the final design drafts, i requested that the in-house brain quest illustrators/graphic designers make the site images (banners, icons, special logos and such), because of how familiar they are with the products. the imagery made all of the fun colours just POP!

(2020) when i first came across sara (ALSO A QUEENS GAL!!!), i was a potential customer looking to purchase her book Iphigenia Murphy. when i first got to her website, i saw there were no links to purchase the book throughout the site. as a web developer, i kept making mental notes, and then i decided to cold call email her about improvements that could be made. i was worried that other people were doing the same thing, so i figured i could come up with a better conversion and content flow solution.
i did a simple site style refresh and since sara wanted the front page to be the blog page, i added a fully functional sidebar and added call to actions – including buy buttons for a “latest book” slot. i also restructured the navigation for better flow, and i created a book page with detail pages for her existing books (with MORE easy to find buy buttons). i hope these small changes will help her in selling more books!

(2019) kelly came to me with a support email recently. her website was broken by another developer and needed help. under the hood, there were a lot of modifications that didn’t translate well with other plugins that existed, default wordpress settings weren’t set, no precautions were taken for existing content when a new method for editing was launched, etc. – so she trusted me to fix the issues and i made content control better for her as well.
in addition to fixing those elements, i also finally got to bring kelly’s site over to responsive design. when i initially built her site back in 2012, that wasn’t a requirement yet and she had turned her site over to another developer by the time i asked if i could apply it.

my job published a highly entertaining memoir with/for film director/cinematographer barry sonnenfeld, and i was graced with creating the landing page for it. while it’s only a one page, enhanced landing page, i am honored as a fan to be the one who created it.
barry wanted it to look like an old (vintage) resume, so we were going to create key areas with hand-drawn aspects and also add a video content area. for now, this is the placeholder page. i tried to keep it clean and minimal, sort of like it was laid out like a resume (even adding a paper texture to the background), but still reflecting the book cover shapes and colors for cohesive purposes. once content fills up, it will reflect the “resume” look a bit more.

(2019) stephen eng is a world traveler, entrepreneur, philanthropist and massive sports fan. he has a travel instagram that he wanted to expand on, and i wanted to create an easy way for him to update his adventures. having worked on one of his other sites, he trusted me to build this hub for him. i can’t wait to see what the future brings when the site expands.

(2019) todd parr is a brilliant, funny and caring children’s author. i was paired with todd early on as a content manager for his existing website, and then we moved him over to a wordpress website via our CMS at work.
i have been dealing with todd directly through the Little, Brown Young Readers imprint at work, and I couldn’t be more pleased as an intro to working with authors. i can’t say enough about this kind author.
when i was first given todd’s property to work on, it very much SCREAMED me. i am a very colorful person, just as todd is. i knew working on his website was going to be fun, and i wanted to ensure that we kept that playful vibe when coming over to our CMS. i made sure that there were bits and pieces of over-the-top flare (his various headers on internal pages as well as a featured carousel slideshow on the homepage, featuring custom backgrounds) and we also ended up creating a custom video player module we will most likely end up using for our global site. i ended up rearranging the page flow a bit, and we minimized and reorganized content so that users could easily find what they were looking for.

(2019) not only is Malcolm Gladwell a New York Times bestselling author, but he is also included in the TIME 100 Most Influential People list. to have this on my roster here is humbling and i feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to build this website. this website was assigned to me at work through Hachette Book Group and the Little, Brown and Company imprint.
i kept the design as clean and minimal as possible, aside from the pops of blue/green from the cover of “talking to strangers” and the talk bubble backgrounds.

OMG YES I KNOW, myspace is ancient (as am i), but if you talk to anyone that knows me online, i probably met them through this website/myspace account. everything was free, and it kickstarted my graphic design into high gear back in the day.
RADS2 was a high-traffic website that was used by people all over the world, and i even had a celebrity or two using them!!! *humble brag*. it is a project i will always be proud of. the layouts i was churning out were pretty cute – lots of paint splatter, neons contrasting with patterns and neutrals, combos of different types of fonts, etc. – i started becoming more comfortable designing sites for others once i built up confidence from my users, which led me to pursuing a career in web development and graphic design.
you can browse the site, as it never really came down, but what you would use them for? i have no idea. i mean, i could conjure you up a classic myspace layout/theme for any site of your choice alla freelancing…. i have one currently running on one of my personal sites. contact me about it!

this was a pretty high-numbered fanlisting for me, and meant a lot to me because the misfits are one of my favorite punk bands. i stopped using my personal websites for a while and fell off, but i had fun while i ran it.
